Who might be able to join this trial:

• Adults between 18 and 75 years of age
• People with a body mass index (a measure of body weight relative to height) below 35
• People who have been recently diagnosed with a tumor of the stomach or the area where the stomach meets the esophagus, and who are planned to have a scheduled surgical procedure to remove part or all of the stomach
• People who are willing to take part and have signed a consent form agreeing to participate

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have had previous abdominal surgery that would prevent a minimally invasive (keyhole-style) stomach surgery from being performed
• People for whom general anesthesia (being fully asleep during surgery) is not considered safe
• People with a serious ongoing illness that significantly reduces life expectancy or makes surgical treatment much riskier
• People with an active infection that has not yet been treated
• People with a blood clotting disorder that cannot be corrected
• People who have another type of cancer, or whose cancer has spread to other parts of the body
• People who require emergency surgery rather than a planned procedure
• People who belong to a vulnerable group, such as those with an intellectual disability or who are pregnant
