Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with a solid tumour (stage III or IV) or an advanced blood cancer
- You are well enough at the start of treatment to attend appointments as an outpatient (without being admitted to hospital)
- You are experiencing significant emotional distress related to at least one of the following: loss of hope, feeling demoralized, fear of the future, loneliness, anxiety about death, feeling isolated, or having thoughts that you would rather not be alive

Who may not be able to join:
- You are currently having active thoughts of suicide with a specific plan to act on them
- You have a diagnosed dependency on or misuse of substances (such as alcohol or drugs), or a diagnosed psychotic disorder — note that tobacco-related conditions are an exception to this rule
- You are unable to engage with or participate in a structured talking therapy setting (confirm with trial site)
- You are already receiving another form of psychotherapy or psychological support for cancer, as defined by the trial's standard care guidelines (confirm with trial site)
- You do not have sufficient German language skills to give informed consent and fill in the study questionnaires
