Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between 18 and 60 years old (inclusive)
- People who have tested positive for hepatitis B (via HBsAg and/or HBV DNA blood tests) for more than 6 months
- People whose hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) has dropped to an undetectable level after completing a treatment regimen based on a medicine called PegIFN-alpha (a type of interferon therapy)
- People who have tested negative for a specific hepatitis B marker (HBeAg) and have a very low level of hepatitis B virus in their blood
- People who are willing to follow the trial requirements and sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have, or have previously had, advanced liver disease where the liver has stopped working properly (called decompensated cirrhosis)
- People whose hepatitis B surface antigen cleared on its own, or as a result of taking antiviral tablet treatments (rather than through interferon-based therapy)
- People who are also infected with another virus, such as hepatitis A, C, D, or E, or HIV
- People with serious ongoing physical or mental health conditions apart from hepatitis B — including uncontrolled kidney, heart, lung, blood vessel, nerve, digestive, or severe metabolic conditions; immune system disorders; serious infections; or current, suspected, or past cancer
- People who have used steroid medications, immune-suppressing drugs, or chemotherapy in the 6 months before enrolling, or who are currently using them
- People who have other liver conditions at the same time, such as alcohol-related liver disease or autoimmune liver disease
- People with a Body Mass Index (BMI) above 28 kg/m² (confirm with trial site if unsure how this is calculated)
- People the trial doctor considers unsuitable for any other reason, including concerns about their ability to follow the trial requirements
