Who might be able to join this trial:
- People diagnosed with a type of tumour called GIST (gastrointestinal stromal tumour) that cannot be surgically removed or has spread to other parts of the body
- People whose GIST diagnosis has been confirmed through tissue testing
- People whose blood or tumour tissue test results show a specific gene change (called a KIT mutation, but not in exon 9) or a different gene change (called a PDGFRA mutation, but not the D842V type)
- People whose disease can be measured on scans using a standard system called RECIST v1.1
- People who are receiving their first treatment for advanced or spreading GIST (people who previously took a medicine called imatinib before surgery or after surgery may still be eligible, as long as that treatment stopped more than one year ago)
- People whose major organs (such as the liver and kidneys) are working well enough, and who are generally well enough to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to swallow tablets or capsules, or who have a digestive condition that would prevent the body from absorbing the study medicine properly
- People who have had another active cancer diagnosis within the past two years
- People who have previously had a serious allergic reaction to any ingredient in the study drug (KQB198) or to imatinib
