Who might be able to join this trial:

For people with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome AND Type 2 Diabetes (Group 1):

  • You are between 18 and 75 years old
  • You have had symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome (such as pain, tingling, or numbness) for at least 3 months
  • You have been diagnosed with mild-to-moderate carpal tunnel syndrome based on nerve conduction tests
  • You have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes
  • Your blood sugar levels are well controlled, with an HbA1c (a blood test measuring average blood sugar) below 7%

For people with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and NO Diabetes (Group 2):

  • You are between 18 and 75 years old
  • You have had symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome (such as pain, tingling, or numbness) for at least 3 months
  • You have been diagnosed with mild-to-moderate carpal tunnel syndrome based on nerve conduction tests
  • You have not been diagnosed with diabetes

Who may not be able to join:

  • Your carpal tunnel syndrome has been classified as severe based on nerve conduction tests
  • You have certain nerve or neck conditions, such as widespread nerve damage, a pinched nerve in the neck, or problems affecting the nerves of the shoulder or upper chest area (confirm with trial site)
  • You are in the diabetes group and your blood sugar is not well controlled (HbA1c of 7% or higher)
  • You have another medical condition (other than diabetes) that could be causing your carpal tunnel syndrome
  • You have a rheumatological (joint or autoimmune) disease
  • You have previously had surgery on your wrist
  • You had a steroid injection for carpal tunnel syndrome less than 6 months ago
  • You completed a physical therapy programme for carpal tunnel syndrome less than 3 months ago
  • You have an infection at the area where an injection would be given
  • You have or have had cancer
  • You are pregnant
