Who might be able to join this trial:

If you have Type 2 Diabetes:

  • You have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for at least one year
  • You have never used insulin to manage your diabetes
  • Your HbA1c (a measure of average blood sugar over time) is between 7.5% and 10% at your screening visit (confirm with trial site)
  • Your Body Mass Index (BMI) is 23 or above

If you have Obesity or Overweight without Type 2 Diabetes:

  • Your BMI is 30 or above, OR your BMI is 27 or above AND you have already been diagnosed with at least one weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure, a cholesterol or lipid disorder, obstructive sleep apnea, or heart disease

Who may not be able to join:

If you have Type 2 Diabetes:

  • You have type 1 diabetes
  • You have had a heart attack, stroke, or been hospitalised for heart failure in the last 6 months
  • You have been diagnosed with a more severe stage of heart failure (known as Class III or IV congestive heart failure) (confirm with trial site)
  • You have type 2 diabetes with severe obesity and are being considered for weight-loss surgery or a similar procedure

If you have Obesity or Overweight without Type 2 Diabetes:

  • You have type 1 or type 2 diabetes
  • Your body weight has changed by more than 5 kilograms (about 11 pounds) in the last 3 months
  • You have previously had, or are planning to have, surgery to treat obesity
  • You have had a heart attack, stroke, or been hospitalised for heart failure in the last 6 months
  • You have been diagnosed with a more severe stage of heart failure (known as Class III or IV congestive heart failure) (confirm with trial site)
  • You have taken any prescription or alternative medicines for weight loss in the last 3 months
