Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with a cancer of the stomach or the junction between the oesophagus (food pipe) and stomach (including certain types called Siewert I and II), where the cancer has not spread to distant parts of the body
- People whose planned surgery involves removing the upper part of the stomach, with the goal of curing the cancer, performed at any point between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2026
- People whose surgery is planned to be carried out using any of the following approaches: open surgery, keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery, or robot-assisted surgery
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose cancer has spread to other parts of the body, including those where cancer cells were found in the fluid around the abdominal organs during a previous assessment procedure
- People who have another cancer diagnosed at the same time as the stomach or junction cancer
- People whose cancer is specifically classified as an oesophagogastric junction Siewert I type malignancy (confirm with trial site)
- People who require emergency surgery, or surgery that is not intended to cure the cancer
- People who are having any additional surgical procedures beyond the curative stomach or oesophageal junction cancer surgery
- People who have previously had surgery on the stomach or colon
