Autism Spectrum Disorder Trial, Recruiting
Who may be able to join
AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI
Who might be able to join this trial:
- Children who have been diagnosed with Mild Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Children who walk on their toes as a prominent feature of their condition — meaning toe walking is seen in more than half of their steps during a walking assessment, and is caused entirely by tightness in the heel/ankle tendon (Achilles tendon)
- Children who are able to follow simple spoken instructions
- Children who have enough basic movement and motor skills to participate
Who may not be able to join:
- Children whose toe walking is caused by a neurological condition (such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, or nerve disorders), a bone or joint condition (such as clubfoot, a difference in leg length greater than 1 cm, or hip problems), or other behavioural factors — rather than Achilles tendon tightness
- Children who have had surgery on their Achilles tendon or on any part of their lower limbs
- Children who are currently taking part in another physical therapy program focused on walking or posture
- Children with severe behavioural or sensory difficulties that would interfere with treatment sessions — for example, severe Autism Spectrum Disorder combined with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and intellectual disability
- Children who are not able to walk independently
