Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adolescents who are between 13 and 18 years old
- People who have a formal diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), confirmed by a clinical or educational assessment report that can be shared with the research team
- People who are willing to be placed into either an active treatment group or a waitlist group (where treatment starts later) through a random process
- People who are able to attend at least 7 out of 8 group sessions
- Adolescents and their parent or caregiver must both speak English, as all materials and sessions are conducted in English
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are non-verbal, as the intervention requires verbal participation
- People with an IQ score below 70, as the program was designed for those without an intellectual disability
- People with a physical disability or another condition that could prevent participation in weekly 90-minute video call group sessions (for example, selective mutism or aggressive behaviour)
- People who are currently experiencing active thoughts of suicide
