Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with advanced or spreading cancer of the esophagus, the junction between the esophagus and stomach, the stomach, or the colon/rectum — confirmed by a tissue sample (biopsy)
- People whose cancer can be measured on scans (according to a standard set of rules called RECIST v1.1) and who have at least one area of cancer that could be safely biopsied
- People who are reasonably active and able to care for themselves, rated 0 or 1 on a standard health scale used by doctors (ECOG performance status)
- People aged 18 or older at the time of signing the consent form
- People whose liver, kidneys, and other organs are functioning at an adequate level
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously had a solid organ transplant (such as a kidney or liver transplant) or a blood/bone marrow stem cell transplant
- People whose cancer has shown signs of rapid growth or spread within 3 months of their most recent cancer treatment
- People with a known history of hepatitis B or HIV infection
- People who have had another type of cancer, unless it was fully treated and cured more than 3 years before joining the trial
- People with known active cancer that has spread to the brain or spinal cord
- People with a significant build-up of fluid around the lungs, around the heart, or in the abdomen caused by cancer
- People currently being treated with antiviral medications
- People who have had a serious allergic reaction to the medicines fludarabine or cyclophosphamide
- People who have previously been treated with oncolytic viruses (a type of virus-based cancer therapy) or T cell-based cellular therapies (a type of immune cell treatment)
