Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes based on standard blood sugar tests (such as a fasting blood sugar, a sugar test after a sugary drink, an HbA1c blood test, or a blood sugar reading with symptoms).
- You have had Type 2 Diabetes for 10 years or less.
- You were either diagnosed before the age of 40 (early-onset group) or at age 40 or older (typical-onset group).
- You have not needed insulin injections and have not had a serious diabetes emergency called diabetic ketoacidosis for at least 6 months since your diagnosis.
- If you were diagnosed before age 40: certain blood test results must show your diabetes is not Type 1 — specifically, two autoimmune markers (Anti-GAD and ICA) must be negative, and your pancreas must still be producing enough insulin (confirm with trial site).
- You are willing to take part in the study and sign a consent form agreeing to participate.
Who may not be able to join:
- You are currently pregnant or have an acute (sudden or serious) illness at the time of assessment.
- You have been diagnosed with, or show signs of, Type 1 Diabetes (for example, a history of diabetic ketoacidosis or very low insulin production).
- Your diabetes is caused by a pancreas problem (such as pancreatitis or pancreatic surgery), certain medications (such as steroid medicines), or another hormonal condition (such as Cushing's syndrome, an overactive thyroid, or acromegaly).
- You have severe kidney disease, meaning your kidneys are working at a significantly reduced level (confirm specific test values with trial site).
- You are taking certain medicines that affect how your pancreas works, such as long-term high-dose steroids, immune-suppressing drugs, or chemotherapy.
- You are not of Vietnamese ethnicity.
- You are unable or unwilling to follow the treatment plan or attend required follow-up appointments.
