  • For certain parts of the study: You have been diagnosed with a type of epilepsy that affects one area of the brain, or you have a lesion (abnormal area) in your temporal lobe, and you are being evaluated for or have already had epilepsy surgery
  • For one part of the study: You are a healthy adult with no history of brain or mental health conditions
  • You have an IQ score of 70 or above
  • You can read and understand English well enough to complete the study tasks
  • For one part of the study: You are already enrolled in, or qualify for, a specific epilepsy surgery research program at Emory University
  • For one part of the study: You are having a specific type of brain monitoring procedure (a method of placing electrodes to record brain activity) at UC Davis Medical Center
  • You are able to give your informed agreement to take part in the study

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have an IQ score below 70
  • You are not able to give your own informed agreement to take part
  • For one specific part of the study: You are older than 55 years
  • For the healthy volunteer part of the study: You have a history of any neurological (brain or nerve) or psychiatric (mental health) condition (confirm with trial site for exact details)
