Who might be able to join this trial:
For the prospective part of the study – Case Group (younger participants):
- People with epilepsy or epileptic syndromes, including those with mild intellectual disability (with or without other health conditions), and people diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis complex
- People with epilepsy who are at least 15 years old at the time of admission to the DH BRIDGE program
- People with epilepsy who are regularly seen at the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli IRCCS hospital, with records showing at least two previous appointments at the Child Neuropsychiatry Unit
- A parent, legal guardian, or the patient themselves (if legally an adult) must have signed a consent form agreeing to take part
- If the participant is a minor, they must also sign an assent form agreeing to take part
For the prospective part of the study – Control Group (adult participants):
- People with epilepsy or epileptic syndromes, including those with mild intellectual disability (with or without other health conditions), and people diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis complex
- People with epilepsy who are at least 18 years old at their first visit to the Adult Neurology Outpatient Clinic
- People with epilepsy who are regularly seen at the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli IRCCS hospital, with records showing at least two visits at the Day Hospital for Drug-Resistant Epilepsies
- The patient themselves must have signed a consent form, or a parent or legal guardian must have done so if the patient is unable to
For the retrospective (past records) part of the study:
- People with epilepsy or epileptic syndromes, including those with mild intellectual disability (with or without other health conditions), and people diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis complex
- People with epilepsy who were over 18 years old at their first visit to the Adult Neurology Outpatient Clinic, and who have had at least six months of follow-up care after that visit
- People with epilepsy who have been regularly seen at the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli IRCCS hospital, with at least two documented visits recorded there
- The patient themselves must have signed a consent form, or a parent or legal guardian must have done so if the patient is unable to
Who may not be able to join:
- People with epilepsy who have not been regularly attended at the Day Hospital for Drug-Resistant Epilepsies — meaning those with fewer than two recorded visits there — would not meet the eligibility requirements for this trial
