Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC), a liver/bile duct condition, and have a severely narrowed bile duct (called a "high grade stricture")

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have had a stent placed or a balloon procedure to open a bile duct in the last 4 months
  • You currently have signs of a serious bile duct infection (called bacterial cholangitis)
  • Your dose or type of a medication called UDCA (ursodeoxycholic acid) has been changed in the last 4 weeks
  • You are not able to give your own consent to take part in the trial
  • You have advanced liver scarring (cirrhosis) with a severity score above a certain level (confirm with trial site)
  • Your liver disease is considered severe enough that your expected survival without a transplant is less than 2 years, based on a specific scoring system (confirm with trial site)
  • There is a suspicion that you may have a type of bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma), based on scans or blood test results
  • You currently have any other type of cancer, apart from a common and treatable skin cancer called basal cell carcinoma
  • Your overall life expectancy is estimated to be less than 24 months
  • You are pregnant at the time of screening
  • You have HIV, or active or long-term hepatitis B or hepatitis C infection, or have had problems with drug or alcohol misuse in the last 2 years
