Who might be able to join this trial:

Who may not be able to join:

• You have other gut or digestive conditions whose symptoms could be confused with IBS, or you have other serious health conditions
• You have a severe mental health disorder with significant personality disturbances, or you have had thoughts of suicide or any self-harm in the past 12 months
• You are currently pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding
• You have difficulties with memory, thinking, or understanding (confirm with trial site)
• You have taken the medication pregabalin in the last 30 days, or you are known to be allergic to it
• You are currently taking certain medications that could interact with the study drug, including rosiglitazone, pioglitazone, opioid painkillers, anti-anxiety medicines, some non-opioid pain relievers, mexiletine, dextromethorphan, or sleeping tablets (confirm with trial site for a full list)
• You are currently taking a specific IBS medication called alosetron
• You drink more than 50 units of alcohol per week (where one unit equals 10 mL of pure alcohol)
