Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are a young person between 12 and 17 years old
  • You have been formally diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • You currently also have a diagnosis of an anxiety disorder and/or depression
  • You are already receiving care at a child and adolescent psychiatry outpatient clinic
  • If you are taking psychiatric medication, your dose has been stable and unchanged around the time of joining the trial

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have a serious psychiatric condition such as psychosis, bipolar disorder, or a severe eating disorder
  • You have been assessed as being at high risk of suicide, or have made a suicide attempt in the last 12 months
  • You engage in serious self-harming behaviour
  • You have an intellectual disability (a significant limitation in both intellectual functioning and everyday adaptive skills) as defined by current diagnostic standards
  • Your most pressing need is for foundational support for autism itself, rather than for anxiety or depression
  • A parent or guardian is unable to attend all group sessions or is not able to complete practice activities at home between sessions
  • You would need an interpreter to communicate during the trial
