Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 27 or higher (a measure of body weight relative to height)
- You have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes
- You have a specific score between 25 and 115 on a diabetes surgery suitability assessment called the IMS score (confirm with trial site)
- Your average blood sugar level (HbA1c) is below 11% if you take diabetes tablets, or below 8% if you use insulin

- You have previously had a similar stomach or gut procedure called ReCET, ESG, or equivalent

- You have Type 1 diabetes, diabetes caused by another illness, or have ever had a dangerous blood sugar emergency called ketoacidosis
- Your fasting C-peptide level (a blood test related to insulin production) is too low (confirm with trial site)
- You have an inflammatory bowel condition such as Crohn's disease
- You have polyps, ulcers, or bleeding in the upper digestive tract within the last 3 months
- You have a bleeding disorder, very low platelet count, or problems with blood clotting
- You are taking blood-thinning medication within 10 days before the study, or expect to need it during the study
- You are currently taking medications known to cause significant weight gain or weight loss, such as certain cancer treatments
- You have used anti-inflammatory painkillers (NSAIDs) or steroid medications in the past month
- You have an uncontrolled hormonal condition that causes weight gain, such as an underactive thyroid, Cushing's syndrome, or an eating disorder
- You have a condition that makes endoscopy (a camera examination of the gut) unsafe for you
- You have liver scarring (cirrhosis) caused by something other than a condition called MASLD (confirm with trial site)
- You have or have had cancer
- You have an autoimmune condition affecting connective tissue, such as lupus or scleroderma
