Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 75 years old.
- Both men and women are eligible.
- People with a reasonable level of general health and ability to carry out daily activities (confirmed by a doctor using a standard health scoring tool).
- People who have had a tissue sample (biopsy) taken that confirms a specific type of mouth cancer called squamous cell carcinoma, affecting areas such as the tongue, gums, cheek lining, floor of the mouth, roof of the mouth, or the area behind the back teeth.
- People whose cancer tissue shows a high level of a particular protein called Cyclin D1.
- People whose cancer is at an advanced but not yet spread stage (Stage III or IVA), where the tumour can still be surgically removed.

- People whose liver is functioning adequately, based on standard blood test results.
- People whose kidneys are functioning adequately, based on standard blood test results.
- People who are able to give written agreement to take part in the trial.
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose cancer has spread to distant parts of the body, or who have another active cancer.
- People who have already had surgery on the main tumour or nearby lymph nodes (a diagnostic biopsy is the exception).
- People who have previously received radiotherapy or chemotherapy.
- People who have had another cancer diagnosis within the past 5 years.
- People with serious ongoing health conditions — such as severe heart or lung disease — that would make it unsafe to receive the trial treatment.
- People who do not have the legal capacity to give informed consent.
- People whose kidneys are not clearing waste from the blood efficiently enough, based on a specific kidney function measurement.
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
