Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older, as well as minors aged 12 to 17 years old.
- Women who could become pregnant must agree to use contraception, unless they have been through menopause or have had a hysterectomy.
- People who have already been diagnosed with a condition called non-cirrhotic portal hypertension (NCPH), or who have an underlying condition that may put them at risk of developing it — such as chronic granulomatous disease (CGD), sickle cell disease (SCD), mastocytosis, common variable immune deficiency (CVID), cystic fibrosis (CF), or congestive heart failure (CHF).
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are currently pregnant.
- People who have another type of liver disease that typically leads to scarring (cirrhosis) of the liver.
- People with an active Hepatitis B infection, based on specific blood test results.
- People with Hepatitis C, confirmed by a specific blood test.
- People with certain other liver conditions — such as primary sclerosing cholangitis, primary biliary cirrhosis, Wilson's disease, or autoimmune hepatitis — identified through liver tissue samples or lab results.
- People with a condition called hemochromatosis (iron build-up in the liver), identified through liver biopsy results or genetic testing.
- People whose imaging scans, taken within the past six months, suggest a blockage in the bile ducts.
- People whose liver biopsy has confirmed cirrhosis (significant liver scarring).
- People who have used alcohol, inhaled drugs, or injected drugs in the past year (based on self-reported information).
- People with signs of liver cancer, based on a specific blood marker or imaging results.
- People with signs of a type of bile duct cancer called cholangiocarcinoma, identified through liver tissue samples.
- People with any other serious condition that, in the trial investigators' judgment, would prevent full participation in the study.
- People who are unable to follow the study requirements or provide written consent to participate.
