Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have a known or suspected inherited (genetic) eye disease, or you are a healthy family member (usually a close relative) of someone who does.
- You are able to cooperate with an eye exam that is appropriate for your age.
- You (or a parent, legal guardian, or authorized representative) are able to understand and sign a consent form agreeing to take part.
Who may not be able to join:
- You are unwilling or unable to attend follow-up appointments as needed for your care.
- Your eye condition has a clear cause that is not genetic — unless you are a healthy relative of someone with a genetic eye disease.
- The lead researcher determines that your participation would not contribute to the goals of the study (confirm with trial site).
- For the optional MRI scan only: You have metal in your body, such as a pacemaker, stimulator, pump, aneurysm clip, artificial heart valve, cochlear implant, metal prosthesis, or shrapnel — or you have worked as a welder or metal worker, as small metal fragments may be present in your eyes.
- For the optional MRI scan only: You experience claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces) and would feel uncomfortable inside an MRI machine.
- For the optional MRI scan only: You are unable to lie flat on your back comfortably for up to one hour.
