Who might be able to join this trial:

Part 1 (Observational stage):

  • People who have been referred to a participating research centre because endometrial cancer is suspected or has been confirmed.

Part 2 (Treatment stage):

  • People who have endometrial cancer or a type of ovarian cancer (called epithelial ovarian cancer), and whose treating doctor has offered them a weekly chemotherapy treatment called paclitaxel (a taxane) as part of their standard care — this is often offered when the cancer has come back or progressed after earlier treatments.
  • People for whom it is medically possible for a new tissue sample (biopsy) to be taken from the returning cancer, so that a specific protein level in the tumour can be measured.

Who may not be able to join:

Part 1:

  • People who do not have endometrial cancer.
  • People who are not able or not willing to give informed consent, including where language barriers make this impossible.
  • People under 18 years of age.
  • People who will not be having surgery as part of their endometrial cancer treatment.

Part 2:

  • People who do not have endometrial cancer or epithelial ovarian cancer.
  • People under 18 years of age.
  • People who do not agree to the proposed treatment, or whose treatment would be carried out partly or fully at a centre that is not participating in the trial.
  • People who are not able or not willing to give informed consent, including where language barriers make this impossible.
