Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been diagnosed before surgery with a suspected first-time brain tumour known as a low or high grade glioma (including types such as astrocytoma, oligodendroglioma, mixed oligo-astrocytoma, anaplastic astrocytoma, or glioblastoma multiforme)
  • People whose tumour has been assessed by doctors as suitable for open brain surgery based on pre-surgery scans and imaging
  • People who are able to give informed consent themselves, or who have a legally authorised representative who can do so on their behalf
  • People who do not have a serious psychiatric illness
  • People who are 21 years of age or older

Who may not be able to join:

  • Women who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
  • People who have had an allergic reaction to fluorescein (a type of dye) in the past
  • People with a history of skin conditions made worse by light, such as porphyria, photodermatosis, or exfoliative dermatitis, or a known sensitivity to porphyrins
  • People who have had liver disease within the last 12 months
  • People whose liver function blood test results, taken within 30 days before surgery, are more than 2.5 times above the normal range
  • People whose kidney function blood test results, taken within 30 days before surgery, show creatinine levels above a certain threshold (confirm with trial site)
  • People who would be unable to follow the required precautions around light sensitivity during the study
