Who might be able to join this trial:
- You can be male or female
- You must be 18 years of age or older
- You must have a current chronic (long-term) Hepatitis B infection, with or without liver scarring (cirrhosis), shown by specific blood test results (note: if you are already on certain Hepatitis B medications, some of these blood markers may not be detectable)
- If you are of childbearing age, you must be using contraception such as condoms, an IUD, or the contraceptive pill
- You must be willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
- You must be willing and able to follow the study plan for the full duration of the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose blood tests suggest they have a new (acute), rather than long-term (chronic), Hepatitis B infection
- People who also test positive for Hepatitis D, Hepatitis C, or HIV
- People whose liver disease has reached a more advanced stage of severity, based on a specific liver scoring system called the Child-Pugh Score (grade B or higher) (confirm with trial site)
- People whose liver enzyme levels are more than 5 times higher than the normal range, suggesting significant liver inflammation
- People who have had a severe allergic reaction to a Hepatitis B vaccine in the past
- People who are pregnant, or people of childbearing age who are not using an effective form of contraception
- People who have another serious disease affecting a specific organ, which the trial doctor believes could put them at risk by taking part
- People currently struggling with alcohol or drug misuse that the trial doctor believes may make it difficult to follow the study plan
- People who have taken part in another clinical trial using an experimental treatment within the last 30 days
