Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) or myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) who have a parent, child, or sibling (first-degree relative) or grandparent, grandchild, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, or half-sibling (second-degree relative) who has been diagnosed with acute leukemia, MDS, or a related blood cancer
  • People diagnosed with AML or MDS who have a close family member (first- or second-degree relative) diagnosed with a cancer of the lymph system (such as lymphoma or certain types of leukemia)
  • People diagnosed with AML or MDS who have personal health features that resemble known inherited blood disorder conditions, such as: a history of low platelet counts or unusual bleeding tendencies; abnormal nails, unusual skin pigmentation, white patches in the mouth, unexplained lung or liver disease; or a history of limb swelling (lymphedema), unusual or repeated infections, or immune system problems

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have a diagnosis other than AML or MDS
  • People diagnosed with AML or MDS who do not have any affected close family members AND do not have any of the physical features associated with inherited blood disorder conditions described above
  • People who are unable to sign the consent form agreeing to take part in the trial
