Who might be able to join this trial:
Observational Phase 1 Group:
- People who consider themselves to be in normal health, OR people who have been diagnosed with one of the following conditions: Alzheimer's Disease, mild cognitive impairment, multiple sclerosis, dry eye, myopia, diabetes, or stroke
- People who are able to keep their eye open during imaging
Interventional Phase 2 Group:
- People who are at least 18 years old and are legally able to make their own decisions about participating
- People who have read and signed the study's consent form
- People who are willing and able to follow the study instructions
- People who have clear corneas and lens in the eye (confirm with trial site)
- People whose vision is at a certain level of clarity (20/80 or better) at the start of the study
- People who have a specific genetic variation affecting how the body processes a vitamin called folate (known as MTHFR C677TT or MTHFR C677T/A1298C), along with mild to moderate small blood vessel changes in the retina (confirm with trial site)
- People whose blood sugar control measurement (HbA1c) is 10 or below
- People whose blood pressure is within a normal range, with or without blood pressure medication
- People who do not have certain retinal complications, specifically capillary dropout or fluid build-up in the central part of the retina
- People whose blood homocysteine level (an amino acid measured by a blood test) is above 9
Who may not be able to join:
Observational Phase 1 Group:
- People who are unable to read and sign the consent form
- People who are unable to have eye imaging performed
- People who cannot tolerate bright light during imaging
Interventional Phase 2 Group:
- People who currently have an active eye disease
- People who have had eye surgery or an eye injury within the past 6 months
