Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Adults aged 18 or older, of any gender
  • People who are currently being treated or monitored for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (a condition where fat builds up in the liver, not caused by alcohol)
  • People who are able to communicate clearly with the research team and are legally able to sign a consent form

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who are unable to understand or sign a consent form
  • Males who drink more than 14 standard alcoholic drinks per week, or females who drink more than 7 standard alcoholic drinks per week
  • People whose liver fat build-up is caused by something other than the condition being studied — for example, certain medications, other infections, a condition called Wilson's disease, severe malnutrition, or being fed through a drip (confirm with trial site)
  • People who have been diagnosed with liver cirrhosis (severe scarring of the liver) or liver cancer
  • People who have been diagnosed with a long-term inflammatory condition such as inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, severe lung inflammation, or serious ongoing infections — other than the fatty liver condition being studied
