  • You have been diagnosed with one of the following specific types of pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs): idiopathic (unknown cause), hereditary (genetic), related to a condition called hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia, related to blocked veins in the lungs, related to abnormal blood vessel growths in the lungs, related to blocked portal vein blood vessels, related to certain types of congenital heart disease, or caused by chronic blood clots in the lungs.
  • You have already had a procedure called a right heart catheterization (a test where a thin tube is inserted to measure pressure in the heart and lungs) to confirm your diagnosis.

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are unwilling or unable to sign a written consent form to take part in the study.
  • You do not have one of the rare specific types of pulmonary hypertension listed above.

Note for healthy volunteers (controls):

  • People who consider themselves to be in good health and are willing to sign a consent form may also be eligible to participate as a comparison group.
