Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with cervical cancer confirmed by tissue testing (biopsy or similar).
- People whose cancer is at FIGO Stage IIB to IVA, or at an earlier stage if surgery is not possible or if the patient prefers not to have surgery.
- People whose cancer has not spread to distant parts of the body, although spread to lymph nodes near the aorta (the large artery in the abdomen) may still be acceptable.
- People aged 18 or older.
- People who are well enough to carry out light activity and care for themselves, based on a standard health performance scale (ECOG score of 0, 1, or 2).
- People who have given their informed consent to participate in the trial.
Who may not be able to join:
- People with serious, uncontrolled heart disease, signs of heart failure, or heart rhythm problems that require treatment.
- People who have a cardiac pacemaker.
- People who have had a heart attack in the past 12 months.
- People with congestive heart failure (a condition where the heart does not pump blood effectively).
- People with a complete bundle branch block (a specific type of electrical problem in the heart).
- People with Class III or IV heart disease according to the New York Heart Association scale, meaning significant limitations due to heart symptoms.
- People with any condition that would make it unsafe for them to receive combined chemotherapy and radiation treatment, or a type of heat-based treatment called deep regional hyperthermia.
- People who have metal implants longer than 2 cm, or dense clusters of surgical marker clips in the pelvic area.
- People with active bladder infections, or bladder infections that have not responded to treatment.
- People with a pre-existing or concurrent immune deficiency condition.
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- People who are not willing to use effective contraception during treatment and for up to 6 months after treatment ends.
