Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 21 years of age or older
- People who have a confirmed tissue-based diagnosis of head and neck cancer
- People who are due to receive chemotherapy and radiation therapy at the same time
- People whose general health and ability to carry out daily activities falls within a certain range, as measured by a standard medical scale called the ECOG scale (scores 0 to 3, ranging from fully active to limited self-care) (confirm with trial site)
- People with no known allergy to the gel product StrataXRT or to silicone
- People who are able to sign a consent form themselves, or who have someone authorised to sign on their behalf
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to apply a skin product to themselves and do not have someone available to apply it for them
- People with certain ongoing health conditions or who take medications that may affect how the skin responds to treatment — for example, connective tissue disorders
- People who have an existing rash or open wound in the area where radiation will be given, present before treatment begins
- People who are receiving a specific cancer medication called cetuximab at the same time as radiotherapy
- People who have had previous radiation treatment to the head or neck area
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who are unable to give written consent themselves and do not have someone authorised to provide consent on their behalf
