AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who are a blood relative of someone diagnosed with Idiopathic Interstitial Pneumonia (IIP), where at least two members of the same family have been diagnosed with IIP
  • People who have not themselves been diagnosed with IIP or IPF (a type of lung scarring condition)
  • People who are a brother, sister, or adult child of someone with IIP

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who are unable to understand what the study involves, or who are unwilling to sign a written consent form
  • People who are unable to travel to Nashville for 1 to 2 outpatient visits, or who are unable to complete a questionnaire about interstitial lung disease (either on paper or online)
  • People younger than 40 or older than 75 years of age — though if the affected family member was diagnosed with IIP before age 50, people aged 18 to 40 may be considered if they are within 10 years younger than the age their relative was at diagnosis (confirm with trial site)
  • People who have another condition that may cause similar symptoms to IIP or IPF, such as rheumatoid arthritis, other connective tissue diseases, lung disease caused by workplace exposures, or previous chemotherapy
  • People the trial investigators consider unsuitable for participation for any other reason
