Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are over 18 years old.
- You have a Body Mass Index (BMI) over 35 (which is considered severely obese) and are scheduled for weight loss surgery at the Hospital of South West Jutland in Denmark, OR you have a BMI over 35 but do not wish to have weight loss surgery.
- You are able and willing to sign a written consent form agreeing to take part.
Who may not be able to join:
- You currently have an active viral hepatitis infection (a type of liver infection caused by a virus).
- You are unwilling or unable to give your consent to participate.
- You have a medical reason why a liver biopsy (a small sample taken from the liver) would not be safe for you (confirm with trial site).
