Who might be able to join this trial:
- Your body mass index (BMI) is between 28 and 40 (which falls in the overweight to obese range)
- More than 10% of your liver is made up of fat, as measured by a scan
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a hormone or gland disorder (such as thyroid disease that is not being treated, or type 2 diabetes with poorly controlled blood sugar levels) (confirm with trial site)
- You currently take certain blood pressure medications, specifically beta-blockers, alpha-blockers, or rilmenidine
- You have chronic kidney disease

- You regularly drink a large amount of alcohol, or more than roughly 2–3 drinks per day for men or 1–2 drinks per day for women

- A blood test shows that certain protective proteins in your blood are too low (alpha-1 antitrypsin or ceruloplasmin below set levels) (confirm with trial site)
- Blood tests suggest signs of autoimmune liver disease or a hepatitis infection
- You have liver cirrhosis (severe liver scarring)
- You have high blood pressure in the vein that leads to your liver (portal hypertension)
- You are pregnant
- You have any reason you cannot have an MRI scan (for example, a metal implant or pacemaker)
