Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 to 90 years old
- People whose brain scan (MRI) shows a specific type of brain tumour called Glioblastoma Multiforme, with a particular ring-shaped appearance and signs of dead tissue at the centre, as assessed by the surgeon
- People whose tumour is located in or near important brain areas that control movement, feeling, or speech, as shown on the MRI
- People whose tumour is considered suitable for surgery, as determined by a brain surgeon
- People who are generally in good physical health and able to carry out normal daily activities (scored 80 or above on a medical fitness scale)
- People who are able to provide written agreement to take part in the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose tumour is located in the cerebellum, brain stem, or along the middle of the brain
- People whose scans show tumours appearing in more than one separate area of the brain
- People whose scans suggest the tumour may have started as a slower-growing (low-grade) brain tumour that has changed over time
- People who cannot have an MRI scan for medical reasons, such as having a pacemaker
- People who are unable to give informed consent due to a language barrier or other reason
- People with a history of psychiatric (mental health) conditions
- People who have had previous brain tumour surgery
- People who have previously had a low-grade (slower-growing) brain tumour
- People who have had a second type of cancer within the past 5 years, except for certain localised skin cancers or cancers confined to one organ that have been fully treated
- People with severe difficulty speaking or understanding language
