Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with breast cancer that has been confirmed through tissue or cell testing, with the cancer's hormone receptor and HER2 status identified.
- People whose breast cancer has spread to distant parts of the body (outside the brain) or has come back in a way that cannot be removed by surgery, and who are about to start first or second rounds of chemotherapy for this advanced disease — or people with inflammatory breast cancer being treated with the aim of a cure within six months of diagnosis.
- People who are 18 years of age or older.
- People whose doctors estimate they have a life expectancy of more than 12 weeks.
- People who are willing to take part in all study procedures.
- Women who could become pregnant must agree to use reliable contraception (such as hormonal methods, barrier methods, or abstinence) throughout the study period.
- People who are able to understand the study and are willing to sign a written consent form.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a medical reason why they cannot have an MRI scan, such as having a certain type of metal implant in their body that is not safe for MRI.
- People who have severe kidney disease (stage IV or V) or kidney failure.
- People who have previously had a severe allergic reaction to the MRI contrast dye called gadolinium.
- People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, as the safety of gadolinium-based contrast agents for a developing baby has not been established.
- People who have previously been diagnosed with cancer that has spread to the brain.
