Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who are able to give informed consent to participate

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have cancer involvement in a specific group of lymph nodes in the neck known as level Ib nodes, including spread into the submandibular gland (a saliva gland under the jaw)
  • People whose cancer has spread into the mouth (oral cavity)
  • People whose cancer has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic disease)
  • People who have medical reasons that prevent them from receiving radiation therapy or chemotherapy
  • People who have had a head or neck cancer within the past 5 years
  • People who have previously received radiation treatment to the head or neck at any time
  • People who are unable to complete the full course of radiation treatment or attend all required follow-up appointments
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
