Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been clinically diagnosed with episodic migraine (migraine that comes and goes, rather than being constant).
- People between 18 and 65 years of age whose migraine diagnosis meets the International Headache Society criteria, with a migraine history of at least 1 year.
- People who experience between 2 and 8 migraine attacks per month, with headache-free days in between attacks, and no more than 5 days per month of lower-level headache between attacks.
- People who are not taking acute migraine relief medication too frequently (no overuse of these medicines).
- People who are not currently taking any other preventive migraine medication, and who have not taken any such medication for at least 3 months before joining.
- People who do not have any serious physical or psychiatric health conditions.
- Women who are using a reliable form of contraception.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have been diagnosed with chronic migraine (migraines that are frequent and ongoing rather than episodic).
- People who have previously stopped taking idebenone (a specific study medication) because of side effects.
- People who are currently taking idebenone, or who have taken it within the 14 days before enrolling in the trial.
- People who experience headaches that are continuous and do not go away.
