Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You are able to read and sign a consent form agreeing to take part in the study
- You are generally able to carry out daily activities, with at most some limitations due to your condition (confirm with trial site)
- You have been diagnosed through a tissue sample (biopsy) with a type of cancer called squamous cell carcinoma located in the back of the throat (oropharynx)
- Your cancer has tested positive for a virus called HPV, confirmed through specific lab tests

- Your main tumour is relatively small — less than 30 cc in volume (confirm with trial site)
- Your treatment plan includes a combination of radiation therapy and chemotherapy aimed at curing the cancer
- If you are a woman who could become pregnant, you have had a negative pregnancy test
Who may not be able to join:
- Your cancer has spread extensively to lymph nodes, based on a specific staging classification (confirm with trial site)
- There are clear signs that the cancer has grown outside the lymph nodes into nearby structures such as skin, muscles, or nerves
- You have previously had radiation therapy to your head or neck area
- You have had surgery in the head or neck area before, other than a small biopsy to diagnose the cancer
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have a connective tissue disease (a condition affecting tissues that support and connect the body, such as lupus or scleroderma)
- You have any other health condition that, in the doctor's judgement, would make it difficult to follow up with you after radiation treatment
- Your chemotherapy plan does not include a drug called Cisplatin
- You have already received chemotherapy before this treatment (known as induction chemotherapy)
