Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with a WHO Grade II, III, or IV brain tumour (glioma) that has come back or continued to grow, as shown on a brain scan
- People who received radiation therapy as part of their original glioma treatment
- People who have not previously had a second course of radiation therapy for this tumour, regardless of how many times the tumour has recurred
- People whose brain MRI (with contrast dye) shows an enhancing tumour no larger than 6 cm, taken within 60 days before joining the trial
- People who have had a full physical and neurological examination within 30 days before joining the trial
- People with a Karnofsky performance score of 60% or higher — a measure used by doctors to assess how well a person is able to carry out daily activities — within 30 days before joining (confirm with trial site)
- People aged 22 years or older
- People whose previous radiation treatment was completed at least 8 weeks before joining the trial
- People who have read and signed an approved consent form agreeing to take part
- People who could become pregnant or could make a partner pregnant must agree to use effective contraception during the trial and for 6 months after it ends
- Women who could become pregnant must have a negative pregnancy test within 28 days before joining the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are not considered suitable candidates for stereotactic biopsy (a type of surgical tissue sample) or laser ablation (a procedure to destroy tumour tissue with laser heat)
- People with serious heart conditions, including uncontrolled heart rhythm problems, or people who have experienced a heart attack, severe chest pain, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, stroke, mini-stroke (TIA), or blood clot in the lungs within the 6 months before joining
- People whose tumour is located in the lower part of the brain (infratentorial region) or has spread along the lining of the brain or spinal cord
- People who are unable to undergo an MRI scan
- People who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
