Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with a type of cancer called adenoid cystic carcinoma located in the head and neck area, confirmed through a tissue sample (biopsy)
- People whose cancer meets at least one of these treatment conditions: the tumour cannot be surgically removed, the tumour was not fully removed during surgery, cancer has spread along nerve pathways, or the tumour is classified as a larger/more advanced stage (pT3 or pT4) (confirm with trial site)
- People who have given their informed written consent to take part
- People who are reasonably independent in daily self-care, even if normal work or activity is not fully possible — this is measured by a performance score (KI greater than 60% or ECOG 0/1) (confirm with trial site)
- People aged between 18 and 80 years
Who may not be able to join:
- People who do not wish to take part in the study
- People who are unable to give informed consent themselves
- People whose cancer has spread to distant parts of the body (Stage IV), except for very small lung spots smaller than 1 cm
- People whose cancer has spread to the lymph nodes, whether detected through scans or confirmed through testing
- People who have previously had radiotherapy (radiation treatment) to the head and neck area
- People who have active medical implants — such as a pacemaker or defibrillator — that have not been approved for use with ion radiation therapy at the time of treatment
- People who cannot have an MRI scan for any reason
- People who are already taking part in another clinical trial that could affect the results of either study
- People who are pregnant
