Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 to 85 years old
- People who are on long-term kidney dialysis (either hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis) or who have severe chronic kidney disease managed without dialysis
- People whose doctors have determined that treatment with a type of medication that stimulates red blood cell production (called an ESA) is appropriate for them
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a known allergy to aspirin (ASA)
- People who have a medical reason why aspirin would be unsafe for them, such as a recent bleeding episode
- People who are already taking aspirin for a medical reason (though if a doctor determines there is no clear reason for the aspirin, it may be possible to stop it and reconsider joining after 4 weeks — confirm with trial site)

- People currently on blood-thinning medications such as warfarin or certain antiplatelet drugs (short-term blood thinners used during dialysis sessions may be an exception — confirm with trial site)
- People with a short life expectancy
- People who are not able to give informed consent to participate
- People who are unlikely to follow the trial's requirements as expected
- People with an active cancer, except for certain non-serious skin cancers (non-melanoma)
- People with iron deficiency, defined by a specific blood test result; participation may be reconsidered once iron deficiency has been treated
- People whose ESA medication dose has changed by more than one-third in the previous two months
- Women under 50 years of age or women who are still having menstrual periods
- People who are on a stable low dose (below 20 µg per week) of a specific ESA medication called Aranesp®
