Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 85 years old
- Your doctor has planned for you to have an arteriovenous (AV) fistula created in your arm, and your anatomy is suitable for this procedure
- You are able to communicate with the research team, can give written consent, and are willing and able to follow all study procedures
- You are expected to live for at least 2 more years
- If you are female, you must either be past menopause or unable to have children, which should be documented in your medical records, or you may need to take a pregnancy test
Who may not be able to join:
- You have had cancer, or have been treated for cancer, in the last 6 months
- You have a weakened immune system, including HIV/AIDS, or an active autoimmune disease
- You have a condition that causes your blood to clot too easily, or you have had 2 or more blood clots (such as deep vein thrombosis) in the past
- You have taken part in another research study involving an experimental drug or device in the last 60 days, or you have any other condition that the study doctor feels would affect the fairness of the results
- You have had an organ transplant that did not work out and are currently taking anti-rejection medications
- You currently have an active infection that is being treated
