  • People aged 50 or older who are able to walk (with or without a walking aid) and have been diagnosed with moderate-to-severe chronic kidney disease (stages 3 or 4, not yet on dialysis), based on a specific kidney function measurement

  • People with uncontrolled heart or blood vessel conditions
  • People with uncontrolled bone, muscle, or joint disease
  • People with any other health condition that the lead researcher believes could make participation unsafe
  • People with joint or bone pain that would prevent safe participation in the study activities
  • People who plan to move away from the Washington DC metro area within one year may not be eligible for the treatment part of the trial
