Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 99 years old
- You are an English speaker and can understand what the study involves well enough to agree to take part and sign a consent form
- You have been diagnosed by a provider at the Interventional Psychiatry Service with a major depressive episode related to major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, or treatment-resistant OCD, and that provider considers you a suitable candidate for treatment through their service
Who may not be able to join:
- You are under 18 years old
- Your main psychiatric diagnosis is something other than major depressive disorder or bipolar disorder
- You have a serious or unstable physical health condition, such as uncontrolled asthma, uncontrolled thyroid problems, active cancer, or significant heart, liver, kidney, lung, nerve, or blood disorders
- You are currently being held in a psychiatric unit involuntarily
- You may not be able to take part in the MRI portions of the study if any of the following apply to you:
- You have an implanted device in your body (such as a pacemaker, heart stent, defibrillator, or nerve stimulator) that is not safe for use in an MRI machine
- You have metal objects inside your body, such as bullets, shrapnel, or metal fragments
- You experience significant distress in enclosed spaces (claustrophobia)
- You have significant hearing loss
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or are able to become pregnant and are not using at least one accepted form of birth control (confirm with trial site)
- You have a medical condition that may affect brain structure or function, such as high blood pressure or diabetes, even if it is managed with medication
