  • Adults between the ages of 20 and 65 who are willing to sign a consent form.
  • People with a BMI of 24 or higher, or who have fatty liver, and whose body fat percentage is at least 25% (for men) or at least 30% (for women).
  • People who are not currently pregnant and who are willing to use contraception throughout the trial.
  • People who have no history of heart disease, organ transplant, epilepsy or seizures, liver or kidney disease, cancer, hormone-related conditions, mental health conditions, or alcohol or drug abuse.

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who are pregnant, or who have a history of heart disease, organ transplant, epilepsy or seizures, liver or kidney disease, cancer, hormone-related conditions, mental health conditions, or alcohol or drug abuse.
  • People who have had major surgery or weight-loss (bariatric) surgery in the past.
  • People who are currently using, or have used in the past 3 months, medications that affect body fat, waist size, or body weight — such as steroid tablets, certain antidepressants, or certain psychiatric medications (confirm with trial site).
