Who might be able to join this trial:
- Your cancer has been confirmed by a tissue sample (biopsy) and has spread to other parts of the body, which has been seen on scans.
- Your original (primary) cancer has been treated and there has been no sign of it growing back at that site for at least 3 months.
- You have between 1 and 5 spots of cancer spread (metastases) in total across your body.
- Any brain tumours you have are suitable for a focused type of radiation treatment, or you have already had surgery to remove them (which still counts toward your total number of spots).
- All the areas of cancer spread can be safely treated with radiation, according to an experienced radiation specialist.
- You are reasonably active in daily life (confirm with trial site what level of fitness is required).
- Your doctors expect you to live for more than 6 months.
- You are 18 years of age or older.
- You are willing and able to give written consent to take part in the trial.
Who may not be able to join:
- Your original cancer started in the prostate, breast, lung, or bowel (colorectal).
- You have a serious health condition that would make radiation treatment unsafe, such as certain lung, bowel, or connective tissue diseases (like lupus or scleroderma) — depending on where the radiation would be directed.
- You have liver metastases and your liver is not functioning well (confirm with trial site).
- The area needing radiation has already received a high dose of radiation previously that would make further treatment unsafe.
- You only have cancer spread in the brain, with no spread anywhere else in the body.
- Your cancer has spread to the lining of the lungs (causing fluid), the lining of the abdomen (causing fluid), the lining of the brain/spine, or widely across the abdomen.
- Any individual tumour spot outside the brain is larger than 6 cm (though some bone metastases over 5 cm may still be considered — confirm with trial site).
- There are signs that the cancer is pressing on your spinal cord and causing symptoms, unless surgery has already been done to address this.
- Your cancer has grown into the digestive tract (such as the oesophagus, stomach, or bowel), certain lymph nodes in the abdomen, widely across the skin, or into the lymph vessels.
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
- There are personal, family, social, or location-related reasons that might make it difficult for you to follow the trial schedule and attend all required visits.
