Who might be able to join this trial:
- Children under 18 years old who have been clinically diagnosed with a rare lung condition called chILD (children's interstitial lung disease)
- People whose chILD has been confirmed through genetic testing, showing a change in one of several specific genes (such as SFTPC, SFTPB, ABCA3, NKX2-1, CSF2RA, CSF2RB, IARS, MARS, COPA, SLC7A7, or LRBA)
- People whose condition is currently stable, with no major changes to their medications in the past 4 weeks
- People who have not received a medication called hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) in the past 12 weeks
- People for whom a signed and dated consent form has been completed — by the child themselves if old enough, and/or by their parent or legal guardian — before any trial procedures begin
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are currently experiencing a severe, acute infectious flare-up of their condition
- People with a known allergy or sensitivity to hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) or any of the other ingredients in the trial tablets
- People who have a confirmed eye condition affecting the retina or macula (the back of the eye)
- People whose kidneys are not functioning well enough, based on a specific blood filtration measurement taken at the start of the trial (confirm with trial site for the exact thresholds that apply based on the child's age)
- People who are already taking part in another clinical trial at the same time as this one
