Who might be able to join this trial:
- A high-resolution CT scan shows a single area of hazy, cloud-like change in the lung (called a ground-glass nodule), where the solid portion makes up half or less of the total nodule size, and there is no sign the cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes.
- A diagnosis of early-stage lung cancer (Stage IA, a type called non-small cell lung cancer) confirmed either before or during surgery, using standard international staging guidelines.
- No history of any cancer in the past 5 years, and no previous lung surgery.
- No cancer treatments of any kind received before surgery.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had two separate cancers at the same time, or a second cancer diagnosed within the past 5 years.
- People with an active bacterial or fungal infection at the time of the trial.
- People with certain serious lung conditions, including interstitial pneumonitis (ongoing lung inflammation), pulmonary fibrosis (scarring of the lung tissue), or severe emphysema (a serious form of lung disease).
- People currently taking steroid medications that affect the whole body (such as tablets or injections, rather than creams or inhalers).
- People with diabetes that is not well controlled.
- People with blood pressure that is not well controlled, or who have a history of serious heart disease or heart failure.
