Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who are willing and able to sign a written consent form for the trial
  • People who are 18 years of age or older at the time of signing the consent form
  • People who have a confirmed diagnosis of melanoma with at least two in-transit lesions (small tumours that have spread from the original site but are still in the skin or nearby tissue) at different distances from the original tumour site, or who have been identified as having this type of spread by a melanoma specialist
  • People with cutaneous (skin), mucosal (lining of body cavities), or uveal (eye) melanoma
  • People who are currently receiving treatment for melanoma, as well as those who have not yet had any treatment
  • Women who could become pregnant must have a negative pregnancy test (urine or blood) within 7 days before receiving a study-related substance called pimonidazole

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose in-transit lesions cannot be safely biopsied (sampled with a needle or small procedure), as determined by their treating doctor
  • People who have a known ongoing condition that significantly suppresses their immune system, including those taking certain medications such as Remicade, mycophenolate, methotrexate, or prednisone at doses greater than 20 mg per day
  • People who are known to be HIV positive, or positive for Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C
