Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between 18 and 70 years of age
- Men or women are eligible
- People who have had a heart attack (either with specific electrical changes on a heart tracing called ST-elevation, or confirmed by a blood protein marker called troponin), as confirmed by a heart specialist
- People who have been diagnosed with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) that was caused by their heart attack experience
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a psychotic disorder, bipolar disorder, or a substance use problem, as identified through a specific psychiatric interview tool
- People who are currently having thoughts of suicide, as identified through a specific psychiatric interview tool
- People who are taking certain blood pressure medications known as non-selective beta blockers (for example, propranolol) during the study period
- People who are already receiving psychological or psychiatric treatment outside of this trial during the study period
- People who have vision problems, such as a condition where the eyes do not move together properly (for example, a squint), that would prevent them from doing eye movement exercises
- People who do not have sufficient knowledge of the German language
- People who are not expected to be able or willing to follow the study's requirements
- People who regularly take medications called benzodiazepines
