Who may be able to join

AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged 18 or older
  • People who have clinical and imaging evidence suggesting a brain tumor
  • People who are already planned to have surgery to remove a suspected or confirmed brain tumor as part of their normal medical care
  • People who are willing to have their brain tumor surgery performed at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota
  • People who are willing to give informed consent, or who have an authorized representative willing to do so on their behalf
  • People who are willing to have a small device (called an Ommaya reservoir) sampled on at least two future occasions
  • People who are willing to have cerebrospinal fluid (the fluid around the brain and spine) stored in a research tissue bank, which requires a separate signature

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who are pregnant, people who are currently imprisoned, or people under 18 years old
  • People whose current or past medical history makes them unsuitable candidates for surgery
  • People who have had a wound infection at any point in the past
  • People whose surgeon determines they are not a good candidate for placement of the Ommaya reservoir device — this could relate to surgical anatomy, a significantly weakened immune system, or an elevated risk of wound infection due to factors such as diabetes, smoking history, or severe obesity (confirm with trial site)
  • People for whom a spinal fluid collection procedure (called a lumbar puncture) is medically not safe — such as those with certain brain masses, blood clotting problems, or other relevant conditions — would not be eligible for that part of the study, though they may still be eligible for other parts of the trial if they otherwise meet the criteria (confirm with trial site)

Important: Always verify eligibility with the trial site directly before applying.

Based on publicly available eligibility criteria from ClinicalTrials.gov. Verify directly with the trial site before acting. This is not medical advice.

This study is not part of the standard drug-approval phase pathway (for example an observational, device, behavioural, or registry study), so a phase success rate does not apply.
